Nuria Mshare

Gender and Development Expert

Nuria Mshare is a passionate advocate for gender equality, youth leadership, and social inclusion, with extensive experience in advocacy, policy engagement, and program management at both national and international levels.

Throughout her career, Nuria has worked with leading international and national organizations, including the Malala Fund, Oxfam, Save the Children, Hivos, IIED, and Femina Hip, among others. She has spearheaded advocacy efforts across critical issues such as education, gender equality, agriculture, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), climate change, and social justice. A key driver of sustainable change, she has empowered local organizations by enhancing their advocacy strategies, building capacity, and mobilizing resources.

Nuria has successfully engaged policymakers, led national and global advocacy campaigns, and influenced decision-making on prestigious platforms such as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the G7 Summit, and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). She remains deeply committed to creating impact at the grassroots and national levels by mentoring young leaders, supporting community-driven initiatives, and championing policies that promote equity and inclusion.

A dedicated feminist leader, Nuria envisions a world where children, youth, and women can access their rights, participate in decision-making, and have their voices heard. She currently serves as the Gender and Development Expert at HakiElimu bringing her expertise in gender mainstreaming, gender transformative approaches in education sector, policy analysis, advocacy, development programs, and strategic communications to the forefront of global education advocacy.

Nuria is an active member of the Africa Women Leadership Network (AWLN) and serves on the boards of Women Fund Tanzania Trust and Amref Health Africa in Tanzania.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, a Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Diplomacy from the Dr. Salmin Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations, and a Master’s in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex.
